This term we did a science project on animal adaptations. We did this in partners and my partner was Sofia, our animal was the greater Bilby. In our project we had to do three different things: Adaptations, habitat and experiment. There are so many adaptations for the Bilby (an adaptation is the action or process of adapting or being adapted). The habitat is where the animal lives and what’s around it. Then we conduced an experiment on one of the Bilby’s adaptations.
3 facts I found interesting:
1.I like how the Bilby’s strong limbs can escape predators and can dig a hole up to 3 meters deep! And just with it’s forelimbs and sharp claws and the Bilby can dig a hole in 30secs-1min.
2.I also think that since the Bilby has poor vision it relies on it’s other senses to find it’s way around like smell ,hearing etc.
3.The final thing I found interesting was that they very rarely drink water because they get all of their moisture from their food.
2 understandings I have:
1.Something I learnt was the Bilby gets all its water/moister from it’s food.
2. And that the Bilby turns it’s ears in circles to listen better for it’s food (bugs).
1 wonder I have:
Something I want to find out is why the Bilby is so territorial why doesn’t it come out at night (it’s nocturnal).
One of the most important that I learnt as that all living things have adaptations and behavioral features nothing that is living doesn’t have 1 adaptations. I learnt it by paying attention in class and doing a lot of research. What i’m going to do with what I have learnt is tell other people about it and store it in my brain.
This term we did a science project on a Bilby we told you about it’s adaptations, habitat, behavioral features and behavioral adaptations etc. I told you what I will do with what I have learnt and told you what I did learn and I have told you what I want to learn and what one of the most important thing was that I learnt.
At first I thought I was dreaming but I asked my friend to pinch me and I wasn’t dreaming. It was a large brown door with smoke coming out of the bottom of the door.
“I dare you to knock on it.” Said Bill.
“What no way, I’m not going anywhere near that door!” Replied Jeffery. All they did was stand there and do nothing just stare at the door. Until Jeffery went up to the door to open it. It was the moment of truth to see what was behind the door. On the other side of the door was. A giant poo man.
“What’s your name?” asked bill.
“My names Jeff.” Said Jeff. As soon as he said his name he charged at Bill and Jeffery. Bill and Jeffery were running so fast to get away from the Jeff but Jeff was too fast and would always catch up to them. When they were running they got a vase with water in it and threw it at Jeff so they could hide.
When they were hiding they were planning how to take him down without touching him (because he was covered in poo).
“Ok so how are we going to take him town without touching him?!” Said Jeffery.
“I don’t know. Throw stuff at him.” Replied Bill.
“Throw what at him?!” Said Jeffery.
“I don’t know anything you can find.” Said Bill.
So they ran out of the room to go find stuff to throw at Jeff. Jeffery found plates and Bill found thick books, they could hear him running down the hall way, they were getting ready to throw the things at him but he didn’t run into the room he ran into the next room. They decided to not do the plan were they throw stuff at him instead they were just going to run and hide try to avoid him. After Bill and Jeffery were hiding under the bed in Jeffery’s room, they decided to leave Jeffery’s room.
5 minutes later!
“Where do you think he is?” Asked Bill. Jeffery shrugged. They were walking around looking for him to tackle him to the ground (they decided to just attack him by touching). They were looking for him for ages until they heard something in Bill’s room they went to Bill’s door and kicked the door open, they talked him to the ground as soon as they sore him. They called the police they put him in jail for trespassing and chasing them trying to kill them.
“‘Phew’ glad that’s over!” said Bill.
“Yeah, I to hope nothing like that happens again.” Replied Jeffery.
Because of their large surface area on their ears they will sweat a lot more which will cool them down. And because they are small large animals like hawks might not see them.
In this video it explains how long the bits of plastic and rubbish can stay in the ocean for and what it can do to the living creatures in the ocean.
Each day more than 3.5 million pieces of plastic wash up into the ocean. In the pacific ocean there is a patch of floting plastic bigger than new south wales. It would take a cuple of years to reach from australia to new zealand and after all that time in the ocean it breaks up into little pieces.
A question I have is how can they stop this? also, how do the bits of plastic break into pieces?
I learnt that when they break up into bits of pieces those are called micro plastics.

It was falling down so fast I didn’t know what to do but stare at! It looked really weird it was a wide orange crocodile that seemed to have collapsed from fallen from a hot air baloon or space junk? I didn’t have time to think about it.
“What are you doing ?! Run!” yelled a near by pedestrian. I didn’t respond I just stood there staring at the strange object. It was so close it would hit my head in 5 seconds luckly someone knocked me out the way when it was about to hit my face.
“Who are you?” I asked.
“My names Jeff!”
“Oh well thanks Jeff!” I said.
“No problem now get off my terf.” he demanded.
“Oh sorry.” So I got out of there.
This video was about blood donations, where the blood donations go and how to donate.
There is 5 liters of blood in the human body and just half a liter can save up to 3 lives. 1 in 3 Ausalians will need donated blood at some stage in their lives.
Blood donations usually go to people with cancer, people with blood disease, people having surgery or other people with disease.
People can donate plasma, platelets or the whole thing.
You have to be at least 16 to donate and you have to be in good health to donate blood.
Can you donate at any time or at a specific time?
What do they use to take your blood? How long does it take to take the blood?
I have learnt that there is 5 liters of blood in a human body. O+ blood is universal which means anyone can use it.
I just couldn’t eat something so disgusting! It tasted like dog poo (I had to lick dog poo for losing a bet).
And it looked like dog poo, it smelt bad as well and it was brown!
“You have to take another bite, after all you lost another bet!” said Mike.
“I know but it’s just so disgusting!” replied Joe.
“So you still lost the bet!” said Mike.
“OK!” replied Joe. He ate another bite and another and another and they were huge bites as well. When he finished the disgusting object Mike started laughing.
“What’s so funny?” asked Joe.
“That was Dog poo!” replied Mike. After that Joe was so mad that he planned to prank Mike back with vengeance!
The video was about who founded AFL and how the indigenous people played football.
AFL was founded more than 150 years ago by a man named Thomas Wentworth Wills who was originally playing cricket.
It is a sport based on a game played by indigenous people for thousands of years. It was called Marngrook.
You had to be really energetic to play this sport because games could last up to 2 days!
Why did the games last up to 2 days, why didn’t they just play for 2 hours?
How did the indigenous people come up with this game?
I learnt that the indigenous people played footy and it was played with a ball made of possum skin and teams were represented by different animal totems.
Indigenous athletes have been successful at playing Aussie rules as it is believed to be part of their heritage.
My goal was to use more punctuation and more talking marks.
The slime dripped through the floorboards when we were hiding under them.
“Is he gone?” asked Jeff.
“I don’t know.” replied Joe. “I’ll check.” “He’s not there lets go!” said Joe. They ran as fast as they could to Jeff’s room and got there safely, but the slug heard and was coming. They thought they were doomed until they realized salt kills slugs.
“We need run to the kitchen to get salt and spread it over the slug!” Requested Joe.
“Great idea but we’ll have to run really fast!” replied Jeff
“Don’t worry slugs are really slow.”
“Oh yeah!” So they ran as fast as they could to the kitchen and they got the salt looked around and couldn’t see the slug but then it came and they put all the salt on the slug then it died.
