seed bank: BTN week 1

In this video it explains about seeds in a vault in the Antarctic and this video explains more.

The vault, known as The Doomsday Vault,  holds 863 000 seeds which include wheat seeds, potato seeds, and almost 150 000 types of rice. The seeds are in cold temperatures that can freeze them and grow centuries later. Storing seeds is becoming popular right around the world ,seed banks have been working together to collect and to store as many plant species as possible.

Something I learnt was that seed banks hold hundreds of thousands of seeds to plant and that it will help for the future. Also I have learnt is that the crop seeds come from nearly every corner of the globe like India, Japan, and so on.

A question I have is, why do they put the vault in Antarctica why not somewhere else where it can be cold?
